Lots More Adjusting Textures, Glows and Such...

Playing with the texture:

Accidently attached a file to the transparency and although I won't be using them they do look pretty cool:

 Back to glows:

Adjusting eccentricity:

I think this is better... Any thoughts would be much appreciated! :)

  1. Hey Molly these are starting to look really nice, however the purely spherical shape is taking away from the organic nature of your concepts. (Hint: glow can be animated to give a pulsing effect.)

  2. Yeah I definitely agree, I was thinking about using a deformer but I wasn't sure how to make it work. Pulsing glow would be pretty awesome! I'll be in tomorrow so would you mind helping me with getting them the right shape and playing with the glow too? :D

  3. I agree with Simon. The generic Maya sphere isnt doing the job but otherwise the glowey stuff is looking nice.

  4. Thanks Tom! I'm glad it's actually getting somewhere now. I completely agree about the shape, so tomorrow I'll get that sorted and hopefully I can start animating :D

  6. We actually had our AE tutorials today so I don't think we have anything tomorrow (they keep swapping the days around I think :P) So if that's the case, I can grab you first thing if you're free? I'll be in from 9 so whenever you're available would be great! :D

  7. Yeah - and the AE lessons swap to Wednesday next week - it's because Pete Wallace is a busy working man with clients who keep moving their deadlines - the real world, you see. Tom's right about the spheres etc; it might help to think of them as 'hand rolled' from clay; there would be slight depressions and elliptical curves if they'd been 'hand made'. I know you're having a really creative time experimenting - and that's brill - but don't lose sight of your visual concept - i.e. what is the thing you're trying to achieve/working towards. This may be a moment to simply revisit your intentions and re-focus. I'm not suggesting for one minute that you're doing anything wrong, but there are many other elements of this scene that require as much care and attention, and your situation reminds me now of when I polish and polish and polish a single paragraph in a chapter - at the expense of the story. Use Simon tomorrow to identify a formula or recipe you can apply in general terms to your world and its visual rules. Don't run out of time.

Oh - any sign of that voice-over, yet?

  8. Yeah, I think I am getting side tracked. One more post on the B cell textures and I'll get on with the vein and the bacteria. Tomorrow will be the day I take all my spheres and actually make them lovely and hand crafted. They'll probably still be spherical but hopefully they will have a more sculpted look :)
Still nothing from the voice over artist I'm afraid, should she have emailed me back by now? I am a bit worried because I don't really know if I should have or not... :S

  9. Don't panic! You might just want to email with specific deadline. We all respond to deadlines after all. Keep it chatty and polite and enquiring.

  10. Yeah I will. I'll ask if she has a problem with me using it on youtube for educational purposes too, it will sound less like I'm chasing her up that way :P
