And moving the figurehead around (plus some added temporary rigging to the mast):
There's a figurehead in the foreground on the left, it's not too clear here. |
Where the figurehead(s) should go is a bit tricky at the moment but I quite like the one half buried in the sand. There'll be lots more play with colour and textures tomorrow when I start working into one of these. Excellent stuff :)
Molly! Beginning to look really sumptuous - and the new cauldron shape is much, much better. I really like the last 2 colour samples - that have that blue and green dominance - but they look properly sinister - but also that the glow of the 'deep blue sea' about them. In terms of balance, you need something strong and structural in the left hand corner - more weed, or similar - and you'll want to go in and really pick out all the detail of that carpet of bones - but the pearlescent element (and the glow) really lifts the environment. For me, yes, it's the second colour palette test from the bottom (the bluer one) that really begins to feel fabulous. Well done, Molly - I think you can feel more chilled out now, because you are very nearly there - and it's an exciting place now. I'm putting together a Post With The Most to go live on Sunday night, and I'd like to feature your environment, Molly - so, perhaps, you'll tweak it further to include the rigging etc. Also, I think a figure head should probably go on the left hand side in the foreground - on a 3/4 view looking out towards the viewer - because that would fill that slightly flat part of the composition and it would beckon us into the space - and maybe with a second on the right set further back - get a couple of figure heads drawn up and use layers just to drop them in until it looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou've worked really hard and absorbed lots of advice and nagging, but the results are up there on the screen!
Thanks a lot Phil! I'm glad it's getting there after all :P
ReplyDeleteI've only just seen your comment so I've got a few more tests without these changes to go up, but I'll adapt it next and the results will be up later today :D
