Head Study for the Noble Silhouette...
I thought I'd have a go at adding a little more detail to the thin, noble plant-lady's face:
A Few More Silhouettes...
They're not great but I quite like them. I ruined the preying mantis woman a little by over-thinking it but the others are okay. I think there's definitely something to take from each on even if I don't use them entirely :P
For Future Reference: Dominic Harman...
I was in Waterstones in Canterbury the other day and I never really noticed before how nice some of the art on book covers is. I spent a few minutes jumping about and found a couple of cool illustrators to look into, the first of which is Dominic Harman:
Pretty lovely stuff! On to the next one :D

For Future Reference: Horia Dociu...
The second of the artists Domantas recommended, Horia Dociu is the art director for Guild wars 2 and as I was looking on his blog it was actually a couple of videos that really grabbed me:
Real time sneak peak of cinematic:
Guild Wars 2 Real-Time Intro from Horia Dociu on Vimeo.
a debit trailer for the game directed by Horia:
Guild Wars 2 Animated Trailer from Horia Dociu on Vimeo.
There's a lot of work I've previously seen by Kekai Kotaki and Richard Anderson in these and to see them come alive is amazing!
It's really inspirational to see what can be achieved my animating concept art and 2D images. It's something to aim for in future animatics I make in After Effects for sure! :D

Face Study: Now With 50% Extra Detail...
I hopped in quick to add a little bit more detail around the horn, eyes and on the skin:
It's not perfect, as it's the first time I've used the texturing technique since Photoshop Phill showed us, and it needs refining for sure, but it's a little bit of an improvement on the one earlier! I may not use that many scale textures later but it's all about trying things :D
First Character Head Study...
I've felt a bit stiff today, and as my silhouettes weren't so great yesterday I thought I'd have a go at something a little different. Below is my first attempt at a head study for one of my first favourite silhouettes:
It started off looking a bit like a cow but it ended up not too bad. There's a lot more to do on it of course like detailing around the eyes, nose, 'horns' and introducing more of a lizard skin. However, I'm just pleased that I'm starting to take it a little further :)
