Trading Cards: Adjusting Walter's Hair Piece...

What has been seen cannot be unseen, so after a bit of feedback I've taken Walter's hair and tried to make it a little more ice cream-like. Here's how he's currently looking:

I've changed the position and added a few ridges based on the 99 ice cream shape, and also changed his facial expression a little so it's a bit clearer that he's a happy chappy. Let me know what you think! :D

  1. I'm thinking... ICE CREAM! :) Hurrah!

(BTW - and you're going to stop talking to me in a minute, but have you ever considered giving Walter's bowtie a pattern? Like spots, or five pointed stars, or stripes? It just feels that he could take a bit more 'business' - and his bowtie is crying out to be a bit more characterful... again, not an instruction, but what do you think? (and you can tell me to b****r off!)

    :)

oh and yes - his mouth - much better!

    1. Yaaaay! And I think you might be right. Jon's been suggesting similar things, having extra details to rest your eyes on. Also, as I'm typing I can see little navy spots on there so I think I'll have to try something now XP

  2. Agree with Phil.
Also a cuff or sleeve on the arms because right now the right arm blends in to his head to much. It's peach on peach - need to make it more obvious. More things to ready for eye on (greebles they are called I believe) is always good as long as there are equal areas not to :p the problem with using solid colours for texturing is that it can look to simple, so having some modeled details is handy or modeling things like creases in the hair and clothes can add extra depth to the renders in terms of shadow or highlights which will make the colour have more shades.. Any way, enough of that :p good stuff.

    1. Perfect example of the shades thing is in the new quiff. Look how much more detailed it looks because of a quick bit of modelling. The shadow and light play gives it so much more than just smooth one shade brown.

  3. Oh no - it's a Jon/Phil double-whammy! 'Greebles' - didn't know that was the term, but yes, I think there are opportunities for a bit more 'eye-velcro' in your characters - which in essence is a bit like 'set-dressing' in an already very well resolved interior - so just see these bits of feedback as 'icing on the cake' as opposed to anything ominous. I think Walter is already much more appealing just for these few changes - once again, your judgement is always good, Molly :)
